This year, our Racial Harmony Programme focused on harnessing the spirit of Harmony among the different races. We organised multi-cultural celebrations of ethnic festivals, such as Hari Raya, Deepavali and Chinese New Year to harvest a culture of racial harmony in school and community. Students put up collages at the concourse and classroom decorations on Racial Harmony Day to play their part in promoting social cohesion and harmony. They learnt how to establish friendship bonds, study and work together. This helped our students foster better understanding and friendship across different ethnics’ groups and background.
To further promote racial harmony, the school has constantly promoted to our students the learning of conversational Mother Tongue languages in the morning assembly through speaking simple Mandarin, Malay or Tamil phrases commonly used in everyday situations. This provides them with the opportunity to relate to and make friends with students of other races.
We would like our students to remember that racial harmony is an ongoing journey; everyone has a part to play in becoming “One united Marsilings, community and nation” undivided by race, language or religion to cultivate a caring and sharing culture.
