Marsiling Secondary School's 2nd public concert, Mia Musica 2008 – RETRO-Spective, staged at Victoria Concert Hall on 29 March, aimed to bring the beauty and vitality of Music and Dance to fellow heartlanders and beyond. The concert theme was “music, movies and musical of 1970s”, popular songs such as “Over the rainbow” (from The Wizard of Oz), “All that Jazz” (from Chicago musical) and songs from ABBA were featured in our dance and music items.

Mrs Rebecca Chew, Principal of School of the Arts was our Guest of Honour. Distinguished guests included Doctor Maszenan, Chairman of Marsiling CC Management Committee and Mr Cheong Khim Teck, BBM, Chairman of Fuchun CC Marsiling Citizens 'Consultative Committee.

Both matinee and evening shows were well-received by our invited guests and audience. Amidst the thunderous applause, this is an unforgettable experience that the participants of Mia Musica 08 will fondly remember.

We saw a buzz of activity at Victoria Concert Hall that night. Teachers and students of Marsiling Secondary School reached the concert hall bright and early, in anticipation for the event which they have been preparing and practicing hard for. Exhilarated at the over-whelming response we have received from the last Mia Musica 2 years ago, Mia Musica 2008 returns, bigger and pack with more fun.

In addition to the Chinese Orchestra, the Choir and the Concert Band who performed at the last Mia Musica 2006, the Modern Dance Society and the Malay Dance Society also participated in this year's event.

The concert worked around the theme of the retro 70s. In this light the Mia Musica 2008 -- “RETRO-spective” brought out the light-hearted and colourful mood of the 70s and the programme was made more interesting with the creativity of Mr Pradeep and Ms Leong Sou Cheng, who sang and danced while hosting the programme.

We are very grateful for the support we have received from the various sponsors. This year’s Mia Musica was made possible with the generosity of the Lee Foundation, Shaw Foundation, Seng Siong Supermarket, Crocodile Foundation and and Rodkyy and Partners and First Printers. We have received encouraging and positive feedback and hope that the next Mia Musica will be just as successful.
