1) Infocomm Club
Calendar of Events 2010
IDA has lined up a series of events in 2010 for club members and teachers
alike to participate. Below is the calendar of club events for your reference
and planning purposes. We will keep you posted on the details of each event
closer to the date.

2) Intergen Roadshow
IDA is planning a series of Intergenerational IT Bootcamps to be held in
schools and educational institutions. Students will be encouraged to bring their
elderly family members to their schools and pick up IT tips such as how to watch
videos on YouTube, use Chinese text input on search engines, make travel
bookings online etc. We strongly encourage Infocomm clubs to participate in this
community outreach event and the unique intergeneration bonding opportunity
where the elderly grandparents can learn IT with their own grandchildren (club
members or students) assisting by their side.
The topics to be taught at these Bootcamps will be developed in consultation
with the School Principal or teachers, and will be conducted by an external
trainer at the participating school’s IT lab. It will be a half-day workshop
session held either weekdays after school, Saturdays or during the school
holidays.
3) Singapore 2010 Odyssey
Inconjunction with the Youth Olympics in August 2010,
IDA has initiated the development of 3D Virtual World revolving around the Youth
Olympics theme, called “Singapore 2010 Odyssey”. This is a joint initiative by
IDA and the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organizing Committee.
There are 2 areas for Infocomm Club members to be engaged in:
a) The Singapore 2010 Odyssey Sentinel Program
The Odyssey Sentinel programme will involve students from 13 years old and above
to sign up as volunteers through participating schools to assist in the roll out
of Odyssey to all schools. Through their involvement, these volunteers will get
to experience first-hand implementation of the 3D Massively Multi-player Online
Game (MMOG).
b) Singapore 2010 Odyssey Competitions
We would like to invite your school to be a part of Singapore 2010 Odyssey and
would encourage both Infocomm club members and non-club members to take part in
the 2 competition below:
· The Digital Design Competition – Jan – Feb 2010
· The Machinima Competition – March – May 2010
The website for Singapore 2010 Odyssey is at
